Hikari is the most popular version of all our Yakisugi options.
Like Yakedo our Hikari Yakisugi is burned to a depth of 2-3mm and then left for a couple of days to cool and stabilise.
Soon after the char is well brushed to reveal the figuring of the timber before our Deep Dark Night coating is applied.
This is no ordinary oil coating but a system that was developed specifically for charred timber.
Hikari really does add drama to any project inside or out.
Using naturally durable species our Hikari Yakisugi enhances the durability further
When detailed correctly for your project our burnt timber cladding can last 80 years and more.
The timber we use to produce our claddings is responsibly sourced from suppliers all across the globe.
We only supply timber cladding that proves to have good to excellent stability in service.
Timber has a low carbon footprint meaning it requires less energy to produce
Unlike other cladding materials timber cladding is fully recyclable at the end of it’s long life.

Yakedo is burnt in our in-house charring line and then coated with our specially developed oil to fix the char helping to hold that character for longer.
More Info >Fukai is produced using the very same method as Yakedo and Hikari, however we now brush twice to deepen the contrast between late and early wood. Choose 6 colours or a clear option for hassel free maintenance.
