What is Avara™ Character

Avara™ Character is produced from thermally modified Finnish Spruce and retains the natural knots and grain structure typical of the species. The thermal modification process improves durability and dimensional stability while maintaining the authentic appearance of the timber. The result is a robust cladding material with a distinctive and natural visual character.

Avara™ Character can be machined with a range of surface textures that enhance the depth and grain of the spruce, allowing the façade to take on different architectural expressions.

Colour & Coatings

Avara™ Character can be supplied either untreated or factory coated depending on the desired appearance and maintenance strategy. Natural weathering will gradually soften the colour of the timber over time, while coatings can be used to introduce specific tones or slow the weathering process. A range of compatible coating systems are available depending on whether the goal is colour stability, surface protection, or a natural silvered finish over time.

Avara™ Character can be machined into a variety of cladding profiles including classic, shadow gap and other architectural formats. Profile choice influences shadow lines, board rhythm and the overall character of the façade.

On-site Workability

Avara™ Character machines cleanly and installs using standard woodworking tools. The boards can be cut, drilled and fixed easily on site, allowing installers to achieve accurate alignment and consistent spacing. See the installation guide for fixing methods and detailing.
