Choose Your Avara™ Grade

Choose the appearance and grade that suits your project.
The Avara™ grades are carefully selected to balance visual character, structural properties and project requirements.

Avara®%20Prime

Prime

Thermally modified Radiata Pine produced using a laminated construction to enhance dimensional stability and produce straighter, consistent boards. The process creates a predominantly vertical grain appearance with a clean, linear aesthetic across façades. This grade works especially well in any of our finshed Barnwood textures.

Avara™ Prime
Avara®%20Clear

Clear

Solid Radiata Pine boards enhanced through thermal modification for improved durability and stability. Selected for their natural flatsawn grain and vertually knot free appearance.
This grade looks particularly good when profiled, charred or textured, with coatings that bring out the warmth and movement of the timber.

Avara™ Clear
Avara®%20character

Character

Thermally modified Finnish Spruce featuring visible knots and pronounced natural variation, offering a more expressive timber aesthetic.
This grade provides a cost-effective timber cladding solution while still delivering strong durability and dimensional stability for a wide range of exterior and interior cladding applications.

Avara™ Character

Why choose Avara™

Avara™ is Corell’s thermally modified timber, developed specifically for architectural applications where stability, durability, and material consistency are critical.

Through a controlled heat and steam process, the timber is modified to reduce moisture content and improve dimensional stability, resulting in a material that performs predictably in external environments.

Manufactured in Ireland, Avara™ gives full control over profile, texture, and finish. This ensures consistent quality, reliable lead times, and a product that can be tailored to suit both standard and bespoke façade designs.

Suitable across cladding, screening, and external applications, Avara™ combines the performance of modified timber with the flexibility of a fully machined product.

Why Not Composite?

Composite cladding is often selected for its perceived low maintenance. As a plastic-based material, it behaves very differently to real timber and has limitations at end of life due to its mixed material composition.

Avara™ thermally modified timber offers improved dimensional stability, with low and controlled natural movement, along with a material finish that cannot be replicated with composite alternatives. As a solid timber product, Avara™ can be reused, recycled, or allowed to biodegrade at end of life.

For architectural applications where appearance, performance, and long-term material integrity matter, real timber remains the preferred solution.

Irish Made
Fully In-House
Built For Better Projects

Every cladding, texture, and finish is produced entirely in-house, giving our customers the advantage of true manufacturing control, consistent quality, and dependable lead times. By keeping production in Ireland, we support skilled Irish jobs and avoid the compromises that come with cheaper, inferior imports.

Stores Carbon
No Chemicals
Fully Recyclable

A renewable alternative to old growth Western Red Cedar, Siberian Larch, and many traditional hardwoods, Avara™ wood helps reduce the demand for slow-growing and old-growth forest species. Each square metre stores significant levels of biogenic carbon throughout its service life, lowering the overall environmental impact of your project. Because the timber is thermally modified rather than chemically treated, it remains clean and fully recyclable at the end of its life. This ensures that the environmental benefits extend beyond installation, supporting a more responsible and sustainable building lifecycle.

Frequently asked questions

Avara™ timber is produced from thermally modified Radiata Pine and Spruce, sourced from responsibly managed, certified forests. Thermal modification enhances durability, dimensional stability and weather resistance without the use of chemical preservatives.

Avara™ is developed for durable exterior use and is designed to perform reliably in exposed conditions. With correct detailing, installation, and maintenance, it provides excellent long-term resistance to decay and environmental wear.

Yes. Avara™ timber is suitable for coating and offers excellent coating performance. Smooth boards should be sanded as a minimum, while textured finishes such as Barnwood or Rift are recommended for improved coating durability and longevity. For a consistent and reliable finish, we advise that coating is completed in controlled factory conditions rather than on site.

The thermal modification process significantly reduces the timber’s moisture content and dimensional movement. This results in straight, stable boards that resist warping, cupping, or shrinkage over time.

Avara™ cladding comes in a range of face-fix and secret-fix profiles, available in Smooth, Rift, Barnwood, and Yakisugi textures. Other profiles may also be available on request, subject to approval and minimum order quantities.

Yes. Avara™ wood stores more carbon than is emitted during its production, making it a renewable, low-carbon alternative to imported cladding timbers such as Western Red Cedar and Siberian Larch. This makes it a responsible and sustainable choice for modern building design.

Avara™ Clear & Character wood can be enhanced for improved fire performance through a pressure-impregnated fire-retardant treatment. This process results in a Euroclass B-rating while maintaining the timber’s natural appearance and stability.

Avara™ cladding can be installed using either face-fix or secret-fix profiles, depending on the desired aesthetic. Stainless steel fasteners are recommended for all exterior applications to ensure long-term durability and corrosion resistance.

Yes. Avara™ performs very well when charred using our in-house charring technique, where the surface is charred to approximately 2–3 mm and then brushed back to expose the grain.
This creates a refined, durable architectural texture with a clean, consistent finish — all produced in Ireland using our own controlled charring process.

Regular inspection and maintenance will help preserve colour and surface protection over time. With the coating systems we supply, ongoing maintenance is straightforward and does not require sanding, scraping, or removal of the existing finish. In most cases, maintenance simply involves cleaning the surface with a soft brush and applying a fresh coat of oil as recommended. Re-coating intervals will vary depending on exposure and colour choice, but factory-coated finishes help extend service life and keep long-term maintenance simple and predictable.

Expert View

Avara™ wood is the result of years of working with architects, builders, and homeowners who simply want timber that performs properly and looks right over time. It isn’t just another treated softwood — it’s a carefully developed cladding system that delivers real consistency, durability, and a refined finish without relying on chemicals or shortcuts. In my view, it stands in a class of its own as a sustainable timber cladding solution built specifically for Irish conditions and I believe it provides the level of quality and performance that is genuinely worth the investment.
