Project Overview

This project uses Avara™ Character with a Yakisugi finish, treated with a clear oil to allow the timber to weather naturally over time. The charred and brushed surface provides a textured appearance at installation, which gradually softens as the façade is exposed to the elements.

The use of a clear oil avoids locking in a fixed colour, allowing the cladding to transition towards a more natural, weathered tone without the need for ongoing maintenance. This approach is suited to projects where long-term change in appearance is accepted as part of the design.

Avara™ Character provides natural variation within the boards, which works with the Yakisugi finish to create depth and movement across the façade.
